Design Ideas for the Most Used Spaces in Your Home

Getting an itch for a home renovation? Put that idea on pause for a minute and consider starting out small. Think about the spaces in your home that you spend the most time in. How are the rooms decorated? If you haven’t done a mini makeover, it might be time to think about how you can spruce up the room without knocking down walls.

Built-in bookcases

Ah- The built-in bookcase. Something that receives compliments every time. But is it the built-in bookcases that are receiving all the compliments or is it the décor that is receiving all the compliments? It must be both because you can’t have one without the other!
Built-in bookcases complement any living room. Being built around a fireplace creates a dramatic statement (they are great storage space too!) The trick to decorating these bookshelves is to not overdo it with the books. Yes, they are built for books, but spacing decorative books out on each side are key! Then, shop around at some home décor stores to find pieces that work well with the colors of your room. Statement pieces, picture frames, plants, candles all work well. Pops of silver or gold really, or even greenery do the trick!

Kitchen Spaces- More than the Appliances

For most families, the kitchen is where they spend most of the time in the house. Other than bedrooms and common space areas. Why? Because we don’t use ding spaces too often. The norm has become sitting at the kitchen counter while you work, cook, or simply just talk and relax.
How do you decorate a kitchen? Isn’t it just a space for refrigerators, stoves, sinks, and cabinets? It doesn’t have to be like that though! In fact, a kitchen can be one of the most beautifully decorated parts of your home.
The key is to think outside the box. Eye-catching title, for example, is very trendy lately. This tile can be used on the kitchen floors or even the backsplash behind the stovetop. Your kitchen can easily be spruced up with lighting fixtures. Hanging lights attract the eyes whereas ceiling lights just sort of hang in there- literally.
Colors can make a big difference in the kitchen, too. If you love white cabinets (the ultimate timeless kitchen staple) consider adding some color to the walls in your kitchen. White cabinets and a light-colored backsplash? Beautiful and simple- but not too over the top!

Make A Lasting Impression - Design Ideas for the Most Used Spaces in Your Home

You might not consider your entryway as the most used space in your home but if you think about it- it is. Especially if you have guests coming over frequently or family coming in and out of your home. So why not make a good impression on all your guests?
The key to a perfect entryway is the lighting. You can have the best décor out there but what good is the décor if you can barely see it in poor lighting? There are really some beautiful hanging lights out there and any chandelier will do!
